Sondre Langås
Sondre Klingen Langås is a 25-year-old Norwegian centre-back from Namsos who plays for EFL Championship side Derby County and is a fringe defensive option in Norway's 2026 World Cup squad under Ståle Solbakken. Known for his pace and aerial dominance, he climbed from local clubs Spillum and Namsos through Ranheim before a breakout 2024 season at Viking — starting all 30 league games as the team finished third — earned him his Norway debut against Austria that September. He moved to Derby in February 2025 for roughly 60 million kroner and, despite a hamstring injury, was praised by the English press and his own coach for "playing through the pain barrier" during Derby's relegation escape; head coach John Eustace even handed him the captain's armband against Millwall in December 2025. A January 2026 hamstring injury that sidelined him for ten matches briefly threatened his World Cup place, with Solbakken admitting the layoff nearly cost him his spot.
