Pape Matar Sarr
A graduate of Génération Foot, Pape Matar Sarr moved to FC Metz and then Tottenham Hotspur in 2021 (after a loan back to Metz), where he has become an established box-to-box midfielder and won the 2025 UEFA Europa League, assisting Brennan Johnson's final winner against Manchester United. He was a teenage AFCON 2021 winner with Senegal and featured at Qatar 2022. He was part of the 2025 AFCON squad (he fell ill during the final, later overturned to Morocco by CAF) and spoke out against the detention of Senegalese fans afterwards: "30 days of detention for supporters whose only fault was passionately supporting their team... we demand their release." For Senegal he is more rotation option than guaranteed starter, and that held true against France: under Pape Thiaw he did not start, with the midfield three being Camara, Idrissa Gueye and Pape Gueye, in the 3-1 defeat.
