Ørjan Håskjold Nyland is Norway's veteran No. 1 goalkeeper and Ståle Solbakken's first choice at their first World Cup since 1998, having started 44 of Norway's last 47 internationals. The 1.92m Volda native built a well-travelled career across Molde, Ingolstadt, Aston Villa, Norwich, Reading, Bournemouth and RB Leipzig (2023 DFB-Pokal winner) before joining Sevilla, where he won LaLiga's Save of the Month for April 2025. He made his World Cup bow against Iraq aged 35 years and 279 days, the oldest Norwegian ever to play at the tournament. His Sevilla spell ended in emotional fashion — confirming his exit to VG "with a lump in my throat," he vowed: "I wasn't born a sevillista, but I promise you one thing: I will die as one."
