Lionel Messi
At his record sixth World Cup, the defending champion's captain is still bending tournaments to his will. Against Algeria he scored his first-ever World Cup hat-trick — on his 200th cap — taking him level with Miroslav Klose on 16 career World Cup goals, the joint-most in the competition's history. Only Ivan Perišić has assisted in as many different World Cups (four) since records began in 1966; Messi has done both.
