Kristoffer Ajer

Kristoffer Vassbakk Ajer is a towering 1.98m centre-back (also deployed at right-back) for Premier League side Brentford and a defensive cornerstone of Norway's 2026 World Cup squad, the country's first appearance at the finals since 1998. Raised at Lillestrøm and IK Start before moving to Celtic in 2016 and Brentford in 2021, he is prized for his aerial dominance and his comfort carrying the ball out from the back. A noted academic, Ajer racked up 18 straight A's at school and once planned to study medicine at the University of Oslo alongside his football career. By his own colourful account, his early height made him unstoppable as a kid: "When I was six years old I was two heads taller than the rest of the players... After a match where we won 30-0, I accounted for 26 goals."
