Andreas Schjelderup
Andreas Rædergård Schjelderup is a 22-year-old left winger from Bodø who plays for Benfica and serves as one of Norway's attacking options behind the Haaland-led front line at the 2026 World Cup, the nation's first since 1998. A Bodø/Glimt youth product who broke through at FC Nordsjælland before his January 2023 move to Benfica, he turned a stop-start Lisbon spell into a breakout 2025-26 campaign, scoring twice against Real Madrid in the Champions League and being named Primeira Liga Player of the Month for April 2026. After what he called a "tough" stretch — including a 14-day suspended sentence in a Danish court in November 2025 and uncertainty over his Benfica future — he told VG after scoring his first Norway goal against the Netherlands in March 2026, "It has been tough what one has gone through. Now one has come through and is at a nice place," having rounded Denzel Dumfries and curled the ball into the far corner.
